Welcome! Before returning to the United States three years ago, I vowed to bring a little bit of France with me by putting together a repertoire of French music that I could perform in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's been great fun so far and I've enjoyed sharing my favorite French songs with the uninitiated while hitting a nostalgic chord with francophones.
I am still composing original music and whenever the gig permits, I mix these songs (mostly in English) with my French repertoire. I've recorded about 20 songs and am still striving to improve my sound engineering skills. (Check out the You Tube version of "Black and White World" by searching "Deborah Kuhl"). In February, 2006 I began working with cello player Pawel Walerowski. "Black and White World" was also selected by Star 101.3 radio for their New Music program and you can hear a version that includes Pawel at this link and contribute to our chances of getting radio air play: http://www.star1013fm.com/cc-common/artist_submission/player.html?art=137317
Pawel and I recently recorded a CD of many of the French songs we perform together. The list of songs on "French Valentine" is featured on the French music page. Pawel is sometimes unavailable since he joined the recently signed band "Rupa and the April Fishes," so I was very lucky to find another fantastic musician to complement my playing, Aram Boyd. Aram's curious instrument and expert playing enchant crowds as much as his abundance of personality. He plays what he calls "the amazing electric space horn" which is a synthesized valve instrument...basically a synthesizer that plays like a trumpet which was Aram's original instrument. People are astounded to hear the range of sounds he gets out of his axe.
Votre avis m'apportera beaucoup! Merci d'avance.
